 Nuclear Threat

A nuclear blast is an explosion with intense light and heat, followed by a damaging pressure wave and widespread dispersion of radioactive material that can contaminate the air, water and landscapes for miles.

BE informed

If there is a nuclear blast:

·         Quickly assess the situation.

·         Get out of the area or get into a nearby building to limit your radiation exposure.

·         Shelter as far below ground as possible:

·         Close windows and doors.

·         Turn off all heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

·         Stay put and stay informed through TV, radio, or the Internet.

·         Shield yourself with a thick piece of material between you and any radioactive materials.

·         Stay away from the radiation source or blast to lower your exposure.

·         Cut the time you are exposed to radiation to reduce your risk.

·         Consider taking Potassium Iodide tablets to protect your thyroid gland from radiation damage.
