JANUARY 2010 WINTER STORM RECOVERY
On March 18, Governor Jan Brewer received word that President Barack Obama declared a Major Disaster Declaration for eight Arizona counties and six tribal nations. The Governor’s letter requested federal support in the form of Individual Assistance, Public Assistance and Mitigation Assistance Programs.
The President approved assistant in the form of Public Assistance and Mitigation Assistance Programs. On April 27, Arizona was notified the request for Individual Assistance was denied. The State was given 30 days to appeal. FEMA extended the appeal deadline by 30 days to June 27, 2010.
The State filed an appeal of the federal government's denial of Individual Assistance and exclusion of snow removal as an eligible cost on June 27. The State is awaiting a response.
DISASTER LOAN OUTREACH CENTERS
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) customer service representatives will be on hand at the following Disaster Loan Outreach Centers beginning Wednesday, July 28, at 9 am to issue loan applications, answer questions about SBA’s disaster loan program, explain the application process, help each individual complete their application and close their approved loans.
The centers will be open on the days and times indicated. No appointment is necessary.

Disaster loan information and application forms are also available from SBA’s Customer Service Center by calling SBA toll-free at (800) 659‑2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, or visiting SBA’s Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure Web site at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
The filing deadline to return applications for property damage is September 27, 2010.
The deadline to return economic injury applications is April 27, 2011.
LONG-TERM RECOVERY COMMITTEES
Long-Term Recovery Committees were formed in Black Canyon City and Tonto Basin to unite local organizations, businesses, and faith-based partner representatives with Arizona Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (AzVOAD) member groups, including the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LCC), to provide for disaster-related needs unmet by insurance or government programs.
Individuals with unmet recovery needs in Black Canyon City can call 480-332-5589 for assistance.
Individuals with unmet recovery needs in Gila County can call 928-978-3141 for assistance.
DONATIONS
The State of Arizona is helping to facilitate the donation of goods through the Aidmatrix Network, where donors can review posted needs and make online contributions. Arizonans who wish to Donate to a need can click the “Donate” link next to the left of the item description.
Individuals must then complete a series of requisite fields, after which they are emailed by the Aidmatrix Network and contacted directly by the recipient organization if and when the offer is accepted.
Arizona-based Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS) is accepting cash donations on behalf of Long-Term Recovery Committees in Gila County and Black Canyon City, Yavapai County.
