School Canyon Fire Reported 75 Percent Contained 


(Posted May 9, 2012, at 12:02 p.m.) Officials report a low level of activity on the School Canyon Fire burning on the U.S.—Mexico border. The fire is burning in grass and brush; it is 75 percent contained.

Planned action for engines and crews today consist of patrol and mop up.

The Lakeview Campground at Parker Canyon Lake has been evacuated. No structures are imminently threatened.

Size: over 7,000 acres; Fire is estimated at 7,049 acres in the US, and 2,000 acres in Mexico
