Incident Management Team Changing for Sunflower Fire

(Posted May 22, 2012 at 5:20 p.m.) The Sunflower Fire is estimated at 16,115 acres and is approximately 43 percent contained.

 

At 6 p.m. today, management of the Sunflower Fire will transfer from the Arizona Central West Zone Incident Management Team to an Arizona Type 3 Incident Management Team, Russ Copp, Incident Commander.

Cause: Under Investigation

Location: 21 miles south of Payson

Fuels: Grass, chaparral, pinion pine

Terrain: Steep, rugged

Total personnel: 259

Resources: 3 crews, 9 engines, 1 dozer, 2 water tenders

Available air support: 6 helicopters, 6 air tankers
