 PREPAREDNESS: INDIVIDUALS

Emergency preparedness begins with individuals; people like you, your coworkers and neighbors.  When individuals take ownership of their personal preparedness, they inspire action in others and strengthen Arizona all-hazard preparedness.

Fortunately, getting prepared for emergencies and disasters is easy.  It takes just three simple steps to make significant strides toward personal readiness.

  1. Prepare a Plan that covers evacuations, sheltering in place, and the special needs of pets, the elderly and infants.
  2. Make a Kit that accounts for the survival essentials of fresh water, food, clean air and warmth, and includes financial and insurance paperwork, necessary medications and identification.
  3. Be Informed by listening to the radio, watching television, reading newspapers and surfing the Internet to learn about the diversity of emergencies and disasters possible in the State of Arizona.
